Byron Bay Acupuncture
Dr. R.J. Singer (Chinese Medicine) is trained in the Master Tung lineage of acupuncture in Byron Bay. This style differs from standard TCM acupuncture and consists of 740 additional acupuncture points. Master Tung Ching Chang was a physician of Chinese Medicine and a scholar of the I-Ching, known for his unique approach and influence on modern acupuncture practice. He was a Chinese Medicine physician and scholar of the I-Ching. He became famous for the results he obtained using just a few needles. The acupuncture points are needled far away from the affected area. In most cases, the patient notices the effect immediately upon insertion of the needle. Practitioners value this style for its application to a wide range of health concerns, particularly musculoskeletal pain and internal conditions.
Dr. Tung’s Points were a treasured family secret, handed down and refined over many generations. After fleeing for his life to Taiwan during the Cultural Revolution in China, Master Tung began to teach his secret acupuncture point system.
Adults and children seek acupuncture treatments from R.J. for a wide variety of conditions, from pain to chronic illness. His goal in treatment is to consider underlying factors as well as presenting concerns.

What conditions do people commonly seek acupuncture for?
Acupuncture is often sought for a wide range of concerns. Many people use it to help manage musculoskeletal issues such as back or neck discomfort, joint stiffness, and repetitive strain. It is also commonly chosen for headaches, migraines, digestive complaints, fatigue, sleep difficulties, stress, and anxiety. Some individuals explore acupuncture for support with menstrual or hormonal health and fertility, alongside other aspects of their wellbeing.
Acupuncture stimulates the body’s natural healing response, improves blood flow, calms the nervous system, and regulates internal systems to restore balance. While it is not a cure-all, many patients experience noticeable improvement over several treatments.
Can acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin and are designed to be minimally invasive. Most people report little to no discomfort when the needles are inserted. You may feel a brief sensation such as a dull ache, warmth, tingling, or heaviness at the insertion site, which is a normal and often beneficial part of the therapeutic process.
Many patients find the overall experience relaxing, and it’s common to feel calm or even sleepy during treatment. Any discomfort is typically mild and temporary.
How many acupuncture sessions might I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on the condition being treated, how long it has been present, and how your body responds to treatment. For acute issues, a small number of treatments may be sufficient. Chronic conditions may require a longer course of treatment to see sustained improvements.
During your first consultation, the practitioner will assess your case and recommend a personalised treatment plan, which can be adjusted as needed. Regular reviews ensure that your progress is monitored, and your care remains responsive.
