R.J. Singer has extensive experience in Chinese herbal medicine. He has spent many years beyond his university-level training in Chinese herbal medicine, studying and continuously learning from some of the most renowned Chinese Herbal Medicine Masters from China and Taiwan.
He is trained in Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis. Having been a long-term student of Dr. Jimmy Chang (Wei Yan Zhang). He has been studying Dr. Chang’s “Pulsynergy” system and evolving Chinese herbal medicine strategies and formulas for over a decade. He is extremely grateful to Dr. Chang for his continuous generosity in teaching a system that focuses on underlying patterns and individual constitution to develop a Chinese medicine formula that addresses a person’s unique constitution and health imbalances, and not just the symptoms.
What can Chinese medicine be used to treat?
Chinese medicine is often sought for a wide range of concerns, both short- and long-term. Many people explore it for issues such as digestive discomfort (including bloating or reflux), hormonal health (such as PMS, menopause, or fertility), fatigue, anxiety, sleep difficulties, allergies, and recurrent colds.
It is also sometimes used alongside Western medicine as part of an individual’s recovery journey from illness, surgery, or periods of stress. Chinese medicine takes a holistic view, considering underlying patterns as well as presenting symptoms.
Are Chinese herbs safe to take?
Chinese herbs are generally considered safe when prescribed by a qualified practitioner. Formulas may be tailored to the individual and provided as powders, pills, or teas. Your practitioner will take into account your health history, current medications, and constitution to help determine suitable options.
Some people may experience mild side effects, such as digestive upset. Always follow your practitioner’s guidance carefully and inform them of any existing medical treatments to help minimise the risk of interactions.
How long can Chinese medicine take to work?
The timeframe varies widely depending on the individual, the concern being addressed, and how long it has been present. Some people report noticing changes within days or weeks, while others find that longer-term care is needed.
Individuals may experience shifts in areas such as energy, sleep, digestion, or general wellbeing, though this can differ from person to person. Your practitioner will discuss an approach tailored to your needs and review it with you along the way.
