What is your purpose in learning and practicing QiGong?
This is an extremely important question that most people rarely ask themselves before seeking a teacher!
There are many different styles of QiGong, each focusing on the development of specific goals. Some styles focus on internal power for martial arts, such as hard QiGong. Others emphasise spiritual development through practices of specific philosophical lineages, such as Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian. Some focus on longevity and health preservation. Others focus on strengthening the physical body; a particular part of the body, or supporting a specific area of health or wellbeing.
All QiGong is good, but different styles may be more suited to different goals.
Keeping that in mind, ask yourself, “What are my goals?“ Once you know the answer to this question, you can find the most effective style to accomplish them.
Unfortunately, most QiGong these days is taught just by learning a physical form or dance-like movement. Some approaches place less emphasis on developing awareness of Qi, strengthening consciousness, and gradual improvement of the body, mind, and spirit.
Why Zhineng QiGong?
After many years of training in, and teaching different styles of QiGong we have decided to teach primarily Zhineng QiGong. The reason is simple, from our experience, we find it to be regarded by practitioners as one of the more comprehensive styles, and often explored by people seeking support with health and wellbeing.
It is taught in a scientific manner, which is structured to provide a clear, step-by-step path of practice. Throughout every level, even the most basic, emphasis is placed on raising and developing consciousness. It has a clear path of development, with apparent achievable goals.
Zhineng QiGong is organised like a pyramid. First, build a strong foundation: strengthen the physical body and focus the mind. Then, gradually move upward through the pyramid.
RJ Singer and Katrina Hillis have undergone many years of QiGong training. They are officially recognised and certified Zhineng QiGong teachers and practitioners, having trained intensively in China with high-level teachers from the Hua Xia Centre (Medicine-less Hospital), who were taught directly by Dr. Pang. They offer private healing and teaching the practices and methods developed by Dr. Pang.
What are the health benefits of practising Zhineng Qigong?
Practising Zhineng Qigong regularly may offer a wide range of physical and mental health benefits. These include improved energy levels, enhanced immune function, reduced anxiety and stress, better sleep, and increased mobility. It can also be used by many people managing chronic illness or recovering from fatigue and burnout.
Combining movement, breath regulation, and mental focus helps reset the nervous system and encourages the body’s natural healing processes. Over time, it can support long-term vitality and resilience.
Do I need any experience or equipment to start Zhineng Qigong?
You don't need any experience or equipment to begin. Zhineng Qigong is designed to be simple, adaptable, and inclusive. Movements can be performed standing or seated, making it accessible to people with limited mobility or chronic fatigue. The practice focuses on slow, flowing movements coordinated with breath and mental intention.
Beginners are encouraged to start with basic forms like 'Lift Qi Up, Pour Qi Down' and gradually build confidence. Many instructors offer guided videos, classes, or written materials to help support new students.
How often should I practice Zhineng Qigong to see results?
Consistency is key with Zhineng Qigong. While benefits can be felt after just a few sessions, practising at least 3–5 times per week is often recommended for noticeable improvements in energy, stress reduction, and physical function. Even 15–30 minutes a day can make a difference. Over time, the cumulative effect of regular practice can help strengthen the nervous system, improve body awareness, and promote emotional balance.
Many people find that integrating Qigong into their daily routine can lead to more profound health changes.
